For Memorial Day, we just wanted to get away. We got a hotel room at Ocean Shores (on Washington's coast) and drove out there (abt. 2 hours) after church on Sunday. When we got there, we took in the beautiful view. Here's our view from our room:
After a yummy dinner, thanks to Marie Calenders and the microwave, we headed out to the beach to explore.
It was very windy. Dylan wasn't too excited about that.
Katelyn found many treasures. That sand dollar was still alive, which we didn't realize until we got back to the van. So we returned it to the ocean.
It says "Katelyn is the BEST!"
And her is Dylan, sitting in Weston's make shift bed in the closet.
The next morning we went down to breakfast and enjoyed a fun morning swimming in the pool at the hotel. This was perfect, because it was pouring rain outside!
We had some lunch and checked out. Then we went back down to the beach. This time, it was raining in a horizontal direction. Very windy!! I took the older kids out on the beach. We were very brave, and we were totally soaked all the way through within probably 30 seconds. But we stayed out there and walked down the beach for a bit. When we got back, we were super wet!
Notice the line....dry and soaking wet.
It was fun to get away for a day. We have so many fun things to do here and beautiful things to see. I'm sure we'll be returning to the beach again!
