Oops!

We just had a beautiful ceiling fan installed in our family room to help the air circulate, especially in the summer since we don't have air conditioning. We also had a couple of can lights installed to help light some areas that were lacking. It was a big complicated job, so we hired an electrician to help us with it. It got done, but not until he had to cut at least 8 holes in our walls and ceiling to get the electricity to where we needed it. When the job was done he helped us by putting the dry wall back and coating it with mud to help fill in the cracks. We were left to paint.

Since we had to get out the paint, we decided to go into every other room in the house and patch any other little nicks in the walls that we saw. We have flat paint and it nicks pretty easily, so we had patches all over the place, the majority of them being in hallways or around corners or other places that get a lot of wear from kids running up and down. We covered all of the patch work with texture to match the other parts of the walls and we let it all dry. The night that I went to paint I was very excited to cover all of these white spots on our tan walls. I worked for over an hour and finally got everything finished.

In the morning we woke up and went to admire my handy work and realized that the paint was the wrong color! I kid you not! Just a few photos to show the evidence:

I wanted to cry. Could it be that the paint that the builder left us had changed color from sitting in our garage for 2 years? Or could it be that I just didn't mix it well enough. I was just puzzled because it wasn't even the same color tone.

Well, a friend pointed out later in the day that it looked like our exterior house color, and she was right! I took a wet brush outside and compared it to the house color in natural daylight and it was a perfect match.

Now this story has a happy ending, because I was able to go down to the paint store that our builder used and they were able to look up in their computer the exact color of paint that they had originally used on the house. We brought a gallon home with us and I got to paint everything all over again the next night. Thankfully it blends in quite well. Now if I would have had to re-paint the entire house because of this little mishap, then I definitely would have cried again.

Crisis averted!!

And we love our new ceiling fan and our new lights!

School is over!

The school year has finally come to an end. We are ready for summer over here!

It was so fun to see Lindsey at her kindergarten graduation. She has grown up so much this year!

Lindsey with her carpool buddy Karissa

Lindsey just loved Mrs. Young's class this year!

Friday night Lindsey lost her tooth!

And today was the last day of school. Bitter sweet for my kids. They really loved their classes and teachers this year.

Here is Brandon with the fabulous Mrs. Krause!

To celebrate we took the kids to the park after school

Here are all of the school kids....getting way to big!

And Dylan experienced his first swing at a park.....he loved it!

Memorial Day

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. We enjoyed nice weather, got tons of stuff done around the house and got to have some fun too. We went up to Snoqualmie Falls with some new friends - Spencer and Amanda and kids. We enjoyed the falls, a little hike and a BBQ back at our house. It's so nice to have Justin home from work on the occasional holiday off. They're pretty few and far between, but we sure like having him home when we can!

Hooray for holidays!

I just can't STAND it!

I just posted about this yesterday on Dylan's blog, but I just had to post a few more pictures because we are just so excited around here! I can't believe that he can stand up all by himself!

This boy is coming up on 17 months now, and he has just climbed over a big hurdle. His world is becoming bigger every day, and it is just so exciting to see his determination and his curiosity skyrocket.

So, so proud of this little guy!

Girlies!

These girls just make me smile.

Lindsey made a fantastic pirate for pirate's day in kindergarten

Notice her beauty spot on her cheek, just like mommy! :)

Arrrrrrgh!

And nothing beats curls and matchin' dresses before church.

Love!

Happy Birthday to Miss Katelyn!

Is it really possible that our cute little Katelyn is 4 already?

Why, when she was born we were in Kansas

And then we packed everyone up and moved to Utah two months later

And then she grew for those two years in Utah

And then we packed everyone up again and moved up to Seattle

And now I cannot believe that it has been two years since that move. There are so many things we have done and places we have been in her 4 years of life!

Now look at the cutie!

We had a fun family party to celebrate.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Music

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be able to go to my first Time Out For Women in Seattle. It really was an amazing couple of days with the awesome talks and music. But I felt very lucky because I got to see Mercy River perform. My friend Whitney sings in the group and it was so fun to see her! Love their music!

And then a couple of weeks ago I got to perform at a stake women's conference about finding peace. It was so fun for me to sing twice during the day, and I also participated in a flash mob of sisters singing and dancing to a Miley Cyrus song (lyrics rewritten about Relief Society) which was of course very funny. By the way, try flash-mobbin' in a skirt and heels! Most of us kicked off our shoes and left them under our tables before we ran up there. You do what you have to!

My life has been greatly blessed by music. I love opportunities to listen to or participate in great music! What a blessing.
