Bunk Bed Fun

Brandon and Lindsey have been having fun playing together on the top of their bunk bed.
All they need is their pillows, a bunch of blankets, their teddy bears
and some books to read. Monday mornings like this are so nice!

Dancing Time

One thing that the kids love to do is dance to music. When Lindsey first started to dance, I was a bit worried because she imitated Brandon's moves. And as you will see, they're not very girlish at all. So as time has gone on, I am very glad that there is a difference between how they dance now. I of course had to show Lindsey a few of my moves.....to give her a better idea. Sorry there isn't any sound to the videos. The kids sure thought it was funny to watch themselves dance!

Play Dough

I had to make a bunch of play dough for a mutual activity tonight, and I was very surprised to see what Brandon had done all by himself. Good job buddy!

Da-Da!

Katelyn has started to "talk" more lately. Her latest is da-da-da-da. She especially loves to say it when Justin gets home from school at night. As soon as she hears his voice, she starts kicking her legs furiously and just wants him to hold her. It's so cute.

These are a little blurry, but they demonstrate her big open mouth kisses
and her death grip hugs. Watch out! She's pretty strong!

Carrots

Carrots are not Katelyn's favorite food in the world.
"You're not really going to make me eat more of that are you?"

Sorry baby girl. They're good for you! At least she likes
most other things so far.....especially the peas! Go figure.

Katelyn's first tooth

Katelyn is cutting her first tooth. Thankfully she hasn't been overly fussy, and I think her runny nose is due to her cold that she's been dealing with. We didn't even know until Justin felt it with his finger. You can't see it very well yet, but it's definitely there!
And as you can see, she still loves her tongue.

Looking back 5 years....

This month I've kind of been in shock that I am the mother of a 5 year old. I'm not ready for Brandon to go to Kindergarten. He's very ready and I know he'll do great. It's been fun for me to look back on his baby pictures. Here are a few of my favorites:
And last but not least: here's a little video of Brandon learning to walk.
Babies just grow up too fast!

Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concert

Before Christmas we were very lucky to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert. This concert is extremely popular and it is very hard to get tickets. The special guests this year were The King's Singers....and if you're not familiar with them, let's just say that they're amazing!

One of the choir directors, Mack Wilberg, composed many of the songs on the program. Many of them were making their debut in this concert. The whole thing was amazing, but Justin and I were totally blown away by one song that he arranged - "O Holy Night." It is done by the King's Singers and the men in the choir. Oh my goodness! It gives me goose bumps every time I hear it! Forgive me for posting a Christmas song after Christmas, but it is so gorgeous! I couldn't imbed the video, but I included the link to it below. I will say that nothing can compare to being at a live performance, but this still worth watching! So sit back, turn your speakers up and enjoy!

Brandon Listening in Primary

Sometimes your kids say things that let you know that they really are listening at church.  Brandon came home from church yesterday and said to Jenn, "Mommy, help me to understand Katelyn's words, before it grows too late."  Needless to say, we found it quite funny.

Play, play, play

For kids, there is always time to play!

Time to sit up and chew on baby toys,

And time to suck on your tongue.

There's always time for teddy bears,

And apparently Brandon has the baby strapped in and ready
to go to church with his new scriptures no less.

There's time for towers

And time for tents

Time for throwing snowballs with Aunt Erin

And there's always time for dressing up!

Like Brandon always says when we tell him that we don't have enough time
to do something, "Well, I have time!"

Sledding!

When you don't have a hill to sled on in your yard, make one out of snow! This one comes complete with stairs too. And when you don't have a sled, make one out of a random household object, like the lid to a laundry basket. Although I must agree with my sisters that the best ones are made out of couch cushions double bagged in the heavy black trash bags.

Happy Birthday Brandon!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Brandon's birthday on Saturday. It was so fun having family close enough to come and celebrate with us!

I can't believe my little boy is 5 years old! Brandon is very creative and smart, loving and helpful. He is such a fun little boy and we are so thankful that he is in our family!

Laptops for School

Posted on: Thursday, January 10, 2008 1:58 PM

I am just wondering why my kids have to have their own laptops made out of paper to play school these days? Hmmmmmm. I guess they want to be just like their Dad!

Trip to Arizona

Posted on: Sunday, January 06, 2008 9:34 PM

Well, we had a great time in Arizona after Christmas! Thanks to Mom and Dad and Jimmie and Jill for your hospitality. The kids want to come back and visit again already. We did lots of fun things. We chopped wood, went shooting, played with Silverado, went ice fishing, went bowling, read books, played Guitar Hero, played with cousins, listened to the Hong Kong presentation, played games and most importantly we just had a great time being together. We were so happy to see so many of you. Brandon definitely wants a farm now, and a dog too. Now back to the grind stone. School starts tomorrow!
