At church I get to work with the young women, ages 12-18 and it has been a great experience so far! It sure keeps me busy though. The youth have been practicing since February for a huge dance festival that we just put on a couple of weekends ago. It was a LOT of work, but it came off being an amazing experience for the kids. We had about 1,200 youth participating from 6 stakes around the Seattle area.
On the day of the festival, I arrived at about 7:20 am and didn't go home until after 8:00 pm. It was a very, very long day. The performance was in the Kent Sho Ware Center, which is an indoor ice hockey arena. I got to chaperone 9 beehive girls (ages 12-13) all day as we moved them from place to place, rehearsal to rehearsal, in and out of costumes, etc. It was absolutely crazy behind the scenes, but the kids looked amazing out on the floor.
Here's a picture of the girls I got to spend the whole day with:
Here are about half of the youth in the opening number. I could only get half of the floor in one shot.
And a few shots from some of the numbers
It was worth all of the time and effort. Now we get to take a break for 4 years!
